Spiritual Hitchhikers

My name is Jennifer Matthews I am a practicing herbalist, massage therapist & healer, & I live in Coffs Harbour NSW.

I was asked for a chakra balance/healing, after a friend of this client told her about an experience she had with me.

I like to understand the person I am about to treat, by finding out where they are in life or what’s troubling them. In this case, the client was around my age (60), going through a stressful situation beyond her control, understandably flustered and struggling to make decisions. Her landlord had requested the property back, which had thrown her out of her comfort zone & she had to move. Synchronicity, however – (and I love the magic that happens around perceived obstacles), another property had presented itself to her, but she wasn’t recognising the opportunity or able to get enthusiastic about it..

In a healing session, I have developed my own ways of connecting through the aura of a client. I like to hold the feet and tap into the energy running through the veins of the body. I quiet myself and slip into a theta state, still aware of the room but also the unseen world that appears in my mind’s eyes.

For some reason, I felt the need to smudge this client with a little stick of Palo Santo first. Breathing with the client, my eyes closed, I rotated my head to psychically scan the room. Returning my mind to her feet, I began to scan up her body. As I looked at her crown chakra, to my surprise I saw a skinny, native ‘witch doctor-like’ man, sitting cross legged, staring at me, with eyes as wide as golf balls and holding a blow dart to his mouth!
I thought to him – “what on Earth are YOU doing here?! You don’t belong! – Clear Off!! And with that he jumped up & left the room to my left.

I was so surprised at what I saw, that I started a conversation with the client telling her what I saw, as I continued healing, checking her chakras through my hands & looking for abnormalities.  I usually sit at the top of the table and channel the healing force energy through the crown chakra.  But ! - When I got to this part of the healing – I felt like I was sitting in a crows nest! – full of sticks and bones & bits of string & stuff!!  It seemed like it had been there for years!! Of course, I cleared it & eventually finished the session, & that’s when my client offered an explanation.
Many years ago, she had lived with friends in the Solomon Islands & these friends were into the ‘witch doctor’ type of medicine & healing!
I can only assume that a spiritual ‘hitchhiker’ had attached itself to her crown chakra & had been living vicariously for years!

She subsequently came back for another session & remarkably she looked very different! She seemed clearer, better groomed & had an air of confidence about her that wasn’t present before. She has now made the transition to the new property & is very optimistic about the future.

These ‘spiritual hitchhikers’ can take many forms & influence our lives in ways not easily seen or explained. Most are benign and can be removed through acknowledgement & awareness. Keeping them away? Well that’s another story for another time!
